January BLUES? TRy a to do

Resolutions or not

Decorations Down, Lights Up

Many of us , once passing a certain age may give up on the very notion of new years resolutions. We can however still try some tactics to help us ease into the new year and frosty mornings

For those of us who decorate for Christmas , the taking down of the colourful or indeed muted lights and ornaments can bring strong emotions. Nowadays we tend to keep some favourite 'fairy lights' all year round to keep hold of the cheer!

Maybe you have been a keen diarist since your teens, perhaps you tried enthusiastically for a few weeks then grew bored or forgot.  A gratitude diary helps us to focus on the positives in each day, it could be a fancy bought book, a few scribbled lines or maybe a few moments of reflection at the  start or end of your day,

A walk a day...

Add something healthy

The mental and physical health benefits of walking are well documented and hard to deny. If not already an avid walker, start slow as even a fifteen minute, brief stroll close to home will help you decrease stress, use pent up energy, and change perspective

Instead of the usual new year tactic of depriving yourself of something you enjoy to eat- healthy or otherwise, why not try adding one new fruit or vegetable? A day or a week go at your own pace and work those taste buds!

The January blues can leave people people negative and lost.  A great way to spread positivity  and lift ourselves can be by helping others. This does not have to be monetary, time is our most precious resource. There are an abundance of voluntary opportunities, but even a kind word, compliment or warm smile can brighten someone's day.
